Always room for more

More than 102,000 high school seniors applied for freshman admission to UCLA for fall 2017, marking the first time the number of applicants reached into six figures, university officials announced Monday.

The UCLA applications represent more than half of the record-setting 171,449 applications received by University of California campuses statewide.

Of the 102,000 UCLA applicants, 63,400 are California residents, an increase of 7.8 percent compared to the previous year, according to UCLA. The jump is the university's largest year-over-year increase in California applications...
